Weather: very cold last night - around 21 for the low - this is the coldest so far this season.

Birds: saw a thrush (I think) that I didn't recognize this afternoon. I don't think it was my usual wintertime hermit thrush - it didn't have much in the way of spots and the tail didn't look reddish enough to me. Hope I can get a better look at it tomorrow.

Wildlife: saw a fox in the backyard of the townhouse area this afternoon around 4 pm, when I went for a short walk. It looked at me for a while and then ran off into the cedar trees.

Plants: suprisingly, the plants on the front steps survived the cold weather overnight with no help from me and don't really look any worse for it. I am learning that the 2 cupheas I bought this summer are not especially tender, so I just covered them up outside last night. They look a little unhappy, but not frozen and dead. They might be good candidates for overwintering in the garage.
