Tangled Branches: Cultivated
happenings in and around my zone 6b gardens in northern Virginia and in central Virginia

Weather: cold and cloudy today, after a cold and sunny morning - last night's low temperature was even colder than the night before, about 14 degrees F.
Wildlife: noticed that the squirrels are either building new nests or remodeling their old ones. The nest in the holly tree outside the bedroom window has been rebuilt with freshly cut holly twigs and dried oak leaves. I saw a squirrel trying without much success to pull off some dead daylily foliage from the plants in the backyard, so I went out and cut off some leaves and left them on the ground. Of course, then the squirrel didn't come back to it.
