Trick or Treat
So I'm sitting here typing this with the windows open on this balmy Halloween afternoon, looking at the green-leaved trees in the backyard, and wondering - what the heck is going on? It's a really nice day for trick-or-treating (no coats over or under the costumes), and I do remember some nice warm Halloweens here, but I don't ever remember the trees still being green on Halloween.
And yesterday I tried and failed to get photos of 2 sulphurous butterflies - one yellow and one orange. Of course the ubiquitous cabbage whites are still around too.
But maybe the birds know something the trees don't, because I saw a group of white-throated sparrows move through the backyard this morning, and a flock of robins starting nibbling on the Ilex verticillata berries.
Happy Halloween or Samhaim or whatever you're celebrating today. As for DH & I, we're going out for pizza.
