Last Snow
These are positively the last pictures of snow I'm going to post until next winter. Even if it snows another two feet, which it won't, I will not take a picture.
While I was out photographing the narcissus in the snow, a red-bellied woodpecker started drumming on the neighbors' chimney cap. The robins were back today, and so was the pine warbler. The goldfinches are starting to wear their summer feathers. And it's finally going to warm up outside!

The woodpecker probably realized it wasn't a tree ... do you think he just liked the racket? Or maybe the echo made him sound louder to impress any females?

I really enjoy all your pictures....esp. like the daffodil
with snow crystals, GREAT closeup. May I ask what type of camera you use???
I have been using a Casio Exilim but now having a lens problem and considering buying a different camera...liked the way I could slip it into my pocket.
I, too, am done w/snow, etc....REALLY looking forward to warmer weather and this weekend when the time changes...YEAH!!!
Planted some basil seeds this A.M. Snapdragons, salvia, and coleus seedlings are pluggiing along.
'hope all enjoy their weekend.
Annie: I recall reading somewhere that woodpeckers will use metal road signs for drumming, presumably because they can get a really good sound out of it. Great new technology for them :-)
Shellseeker411: Thanks for the compliment! Since December I've been using a fancy schmancy Canon Digital Rebel SLR. I still don't have the thing all figured out. Before that, I got nice crisp closeup shots using a Fuji FinePix on the macro setting. I liked that camera a lot for closeups, but not much else, which is why I made the move to a digital SLR. I do a lot of cropping and resizing of the photos before I post them.
I'm waiting for the warmer weather we were promised today, but it's off to a cold start so far...
