County Clerk: Thanks for stopping by to admire the peonies. I've been admiring your erudite posts, and wishing for more time to follow up on them.
Ki: The color of the petals is perhaps a little more magenta than the photos look. I got the plants from Song Sparrow, but they don't seem to list that variety anymore.
I've been meaning to go back and leave a comment on your birds-foot violet, but just haven't gotten it done. It's very cute and I love the foliage! Oh, and now I see you have more blue flowers posted - I'll be over right away to study them properly.
Ottawa Gardener: Those plants are about 6 years old, if I remember correctly. I think I planted them in the autumn of 2001. I can't remember if they bloomed their first spring or not.
The flowers are gorgeous for about a week or 10 days and then that's it until next year. Fortunately, the foliage makes a nice shrub-like appearance for most of the growing season.
Such gorgeous flowers are worth waiting for. They are stunning so what are you doing behind your pc? Go out and gloat over them and take at least a zillion pics! :-)
Your peony is simply beautiful - we can't grow them in the hot and humid south, but growing up, my mom's garden was filled with them. Well worth the wait I think!
This garden blogging thing is wonderful - I can't grow peonies, but all of you who have them are sharing the photos. Entangled, Karen is a beauty and worth the trouble and time.
All: I just discovered that I haven't been getting notification of comments, so this is a little tardy and I may have missed some.
Pam and Annie: When I drool over all the plants (yuck! that didn't turn out right, but never mind) that you guys can grown south of here, I keep forgetting that there are some that don't grow well there.
Lisa: I just have one other peony - Krinkled White. I'm planning to plant more varieties this fall at our new house. I think I'm going to stick with the singles and Japanese types for now though.
Ki: I haven't received a White Flower Farm catalog in a while, but I'll check it out on their webiste. I had forgotten that they have a pretty good selection of peonies, and I bought my other one - Krinkled White - from them, long ago.

Peonies.
I just love them.
Yours are spectacular.
Thanks for posting.
It was surely worth the wait. The gorgeous deep red really sets off the yellow pistils.

Beautiful. How long did you wait for them?

Yolanda Elizabet: That is excellent advice. I'm going to be in the garden all day today!

Annie at the Transplantable Rose
Worth the wait for sure!! Do you have any other varieties?
I got the White Flower Farm catalog a few days ago and they have the 'Karen Gray' for $19.95 which seems like a very good price.
