We Still Have Hummingbirds

One of these days, I'm going to take a feather-perfect picture of a hummingbird. For now these are the least bad photos from yesterday afternoon.

They are gone from here (RI) so it is nice they are moving south and you got a couple of shots. They are fast little buggers aren't they?

Layanee: I hope the red flowers are a beacon for them to stop here on their journey. They must require a huge number of calories to move that fast. Wish I could say the same for me ;-)

Well Entangled, your hummingbird photos may not beat Mary's at Mary's View, but I'd be happy to have caught the fast little birds.

I wonder if they'd hover longer over red lantana than over red salvia.

Annie: I think this is only the second or third time that me, a camera, and a hummingbird have come together. Mary's photos are amazing <sigh>. I think the birds do spend more time over the Lantana flowers because they can sip from floret to floret without changing position. This one ignored the Cuphea flowers just below the Lantana - unusual behavior.
