Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day +2
Late again, but I've been busy.
The weather forecast was wrong every day last week. They kept predicting rain, sometimes a lot of rain, and I worried about the semi-ripe tomatoes cracking after taking up so much water. Turns out I needn't have worried (because it didn't rain), but I picked all the tomatoes that were showing any color at all. The edible plants have been taking up all my gardening time. Not that this is a bad thing, but blogging and other things have faded into the background.
But we do have flowers. Still mostly annuals at Tangled Branches South, and some of these have seen better days, but technically in bloom. The list is the order in which I wrote them down as I was walking around trying to make sure I included everything.
Petunia 'Old Fashioned Vining'
Dianthus 'Rainbow Loveliness'
Verbena bonariensis
Various basils

i think i have to have some of that Scabiosa 'Black Knight'...gorgeous pictures all the way around!
thank you for sharing..:)
I love that black scabiosa!
Cat & Rosemary: So it's 2 votes then for the black scabiosa? I like it a lot too!
No, three votes for the scabiosa! and I love the sunflower too! I wish I had more space, I'd definitely grow lots of the shorter dark sunflowers.
Gorgeous photos! I'd forgotten that I planted Verbena bonariensis this year until all of a sudden, there it was, blooming!
Love your Scabiosa 'Black Knight.' I really must get some of that.
Wendy: I hadn't grown the dark sunflowers until this year, but they'll definitely be invited back next year. The color & texture are very velvety. I think I need more of the black scabiosa next year too.
Kylee: I didn't deadhead the Verbena bonariensis last year, and it is now everywhere. Including in the gravel driveway many feet from the garden. It's a nice kind of weed to have though.
That black scabiosa is killer. I wish I had saved seeds from the one I grew a couple of years ago.
MBT: I'll try to save some seeds this year (if I remember). Not sure if they're a hybrid, so they might not come true from seed. Let me know if you want some of them.
I adore 'Black Knight'... but am absolutely drooling over those tomatoes. YUM!!!
Blackswamp Girl: Glad you like the 'Black Knight'. Tomatoes are only so-so this year, but still drool-worthy IMHO ;-)
