GBBD

Garden Bloggers' Bud Day?

'Rijnveld's Early Sensation' narcissus will be blooming soon.

'Jelena' witch hazel thinks it's still too cold.

Garden Bloggers' Bug Day?

Some type of stink bug? Found crawling on the floor this afternoon.

Garden Bloggers' Bird Day?

My little chickadee.

Nuthatch with prized sunflower seed.

Shy cardinal.

Garden Bloggers' Blue Day?

Sweetgum seed balls against the deep blue sky.

How could I be blue with a gorgeous sky, plenty of twittering birds, and today's spring-like temperatures? No blooms for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, that's how! But soon there will be flowers. Maybe even for February's GBBD. Stay tuned.

Ugh stink bugs! Saw your BGGD post and wanted to say I still have snow mounds too here in MD/DC and am slowly scooping up some ofthe packed snow/ice and dumping it in containers and around other wind-blown plants so as it melts (it is 50 finally today!), it gives them a bit of water.

Great winter photos. They almost make this cold winter seem tolerable.

WG: I looked up the bug after writing the post and found that it's a Juniper Stink Bug. But I shooed it outside right quick after taking the photo.

At least you were able to find a good garden use for the snow ;-) I'm hoping it will all be gone after tomorrow's rain.

Swimray: Hey thanks! But I think the warmer weather encouraged me to spend more time outside on the photography. Ironic, huh?

Caroline: Aren't the chickadees cute? They just look so perky to me.

LOVE all of your GBBD photos, Entangled... but I can't believe that you have buds already on your narcissus! Wow. I think that I have some crocus foliage buried beneath the snow... somewhere... but that's about it. :)

Blackswamp Girl: Those 'Rijnveld Early Sensation' daffodils are very early-flowering. I think they started to push up way back in December before it got cold.

I haven't noticed any crocus foliage yet - they must not have been fooled by the warm weather of the past few days.

Very poetic GBBD, Entangled!

Our early paperwhites were turned to mush, but by the 18th had a few flowers for the addendum.

I had to squish a few stinkbugs that had found their way under the thermal covers w/Xmas that were supposed to be protecting my citrus. Nasty bugs, but smart!

Annie: I'm afraid to look at your blog - hope the freeze damage was not too bad. It would be the bugs that survive, if anything did.

Mostly lost succulents and some favorite marginal plants, Entangled - but there was enough blooming to sing about in a music video!
