We don't see many Monarch butterflies in the garden, so this picture is a bit of a rarity. Ironically, I dug up and killed all my Asclepias plants but one this spring, and now I have a Monarch butterfly. This one was very interested in the Eupatorium coelestinum that I planted this spring - I scared it away several times trying to take a picture, but it kept coming back to the same plant. And, yes, I do believe I see a proboscis in this picture too.
